Our Mission
Clinica Esperanza is a Christian-oriented, non-denominational, non-profit organization that operates under the Honduran NGO, Asociacion de Salud Comunitaria, and is dedicated to the premise that healthcare is a basic human right. It is our commitment to create an environment where the best possible healthcare can be provided, with educational opportunities for both the people we serve and the local healthcare providers.
We are also committed to assisting healthcare professionals, medical students and others who wish to donate their resources, expertise, medications, and other supplies to improve the healthcare available to the people of the Bay Islands of Honduras.
Meet Our Founder
In 2001, after 14 years of coordinating volunteer medical and dental mission teams to Honduras, Peggy Stranges, RN, made the move to the island of Roatan. As a nursing volunteer, Ms. Peggy (as she is known to the islanders) was acutely aware of the critical need for health services and her goal became to make affordable, quality healthcare available to the people of the island. What began at Ms. Peggy’s kitchen table as her neighbors came to her seeking medical help evolved into Clinica Esperanza.
Over the years, it expanded, first, to the apartment beneath her home, then to 4 rooms at the Son Rise Calvary Church Mission Hotel, and finally into a 4000 sq ft medical facility in the same neighborhood of Sandy Bay.
Our Vision
Clinica Esperanza is currently in a 4000 sq ft building and we are at maximum capacity. We have obtained land adjacent to our existing facility and have begun planning for an additional building.
Our plans include an imaging center, and expansions of our dental department, laboratory and pharmacy. We are currently in the planning and fundraising phase of our new addition.
We are truly grateful to all our donors and welcome any financial assistance you are able to provide.
