Celebrating July 4th in Honduras
The clinic mainly follows the Honduran national holidays with only a couple US holidays observed for our American volunteers. One of those holidays that we do observe is July 4th. This year however, instead of just going to relax on the beautiful beach, we decided to do something positive for the island ex-pats and their families. Clinica Esperanza teamed up with Infinity Bay to host carnival games, a bake sale and a 50/50 raffle at the Infinity Bay Annual 4th of July Beach Party. The resort generously donated the outdoor space as well as the tent and tables to give us access to one of the largest ex-pat parties on the island.
From 2-5pm kids and parents cycled through 10 carnival games that were planned and executed by teams of our volunteers. Infinity Bay helped make the day more interesting by offering a free night’s stay to the volunteer team who’s game made the most money for the clinic. With such a tempting incentive our volunteers were able to raise over $300 in just a few hours. Along with the 50/50 raffle the whole fun-filled day provided the clinic with a netted $630!
Thanks to Infinity Bay for their continued generous support of the clinic, thanks to our volunteers whose dedication and creativity made the day a success and thanks to the bakers who contributed delicious dishes to the bake sale table.
